We started the year with a bring your own project night, a chance to bring unfinished items or a craft kit that you might have been given for Christmas.
There were a variety of projects going on from embroidery and cross stitch, sewing to knitting and crochet. It was great to see what everyone was working on.
Beautiful hand knitted socks.
Gorgeous hand stitch embroidery.
Detailed cross stitch in progress.
Perfect for this weather a lovely big warm crochet blanket.
Bringing a project to any event is something we would like to encourage. Its always great to see what people are working on, its also a good conversation starter, making it easier to meet new people and be more sew sociable! And ideal if you are waiting for your turn at a mini workshop or prefer not to take part in the evenings other activities.
Along side this we ran three swap tables offering a chance to swap your fat quarters, sewing books and sewing patterns. I have to say I’m very happy with my vintage pattern swaps.
Next month we are hosting a mini workshop evening. We have Mandeep from Art Tracks who will be showing you how to design and print your own fabric. Nicki Merrall will be on hand with one of her super crochet workshops and I will be bringing a Bobbins and Buttons workshop, showing you some tips and tricks for simple bag making and zip insertion. The end result will be a small toiletry bag.
Hoping to see you there.
