Another great night at Sew Sociable this month. We had a lovely varied mini workshop night. Mandeep from Art Tracks came to teach how to create a lino cut and print onto fabric.
Tracy and Owen having some mum and son time, what a great project to work on as a team!
Lots of lovely designs being created ready for fabric printing.
This looked like a great workshop, definitely one I would like to join in on next time. It opens a whole new world of possibilities if you can create your own fabric!
As it turned out this time I couldn’t join in printing because I was running my own mini workshop. My Bobbins and Buttons workshop was to create a little zip top make up bag. I shared some of my favorite tips for simple bag making and included the pattern for extra practice after the workshop.
One of my tips was to use rip-stop fabric which makes a great lining fabric and has the added bonus of being waterproof and wipe-able, but super easy to sew!
Some great results.
Nicki from Being Knitterly came along with a beginner crochet workshop. Teaching granny squares.
As always everyone is welcome to come along with their own project and just sew socially. So it was great to see a few social projects in small gatherings going on.
It was also the event to submit pincushions for the pin cushion challenge. All ideas were different, it’s always interesting to see what people come up with.
I love this pretty rainbow effect design.
This fabulous entry, David Bowie themed needle felted design on the top and embroidered Bowie quote on the reverse.
The winner will be judged at the next event March 18th by Sarah from Crafty Sew & So who is currently displaying the entries in her new shop window in St.Martins Leicester. She will be awarding a Crafty Sew & So prize to the chosen winner.
Talking of the next event, we are relocating to The Globe in Silver street Leicester. The upstairs venue room will be the destination for this and future events. We will be welcoming back Mr X Stitch who will be presenting an evening about man-broiders. Its sure to be a great night so don’t miss it!
